The Uacarí Lodge is located in the town of Tefé, part of the largest protected area in Brazil, the Mamirauá Sustainable Development Reserve, where projects are developed for sustainability, among which ecotourism stands out. The Mamirauá Project was initiated in 1992 with the objective of ensuring the conservation of its biodiversity and the sustainable development of the communities in the area.

A Reserva de Desenvolvimento Sustentável Mamirauá, é uma Unidade de Conservação Estadual, possui 1.124.000ha. É administrada pela ONG Sociedade Civil Mamirauá e localiza-se na confluência dos rios Solimões, Japurá e Auati-Paraná – médio Amazonas.

The practice of ecotourism in the reserve is a strategy to make the local economy viable, prioritizes the local work promoting conservation and at the same time generating income in a responsible way, seeking to protect the area from possible social and environmental impacts. With this, the income generated is invested in community projects and research projects

INFRASTRUCTURE

The Uacari Lodge has a set of six floating wooden structures that are covered tiles of recycled bottles. The structures float because they were built on floating logs. All chalets are connected to each other by floating walkways. The Lodge was designed with minimal environmental impact on the environment with the installation of appropriate technologies, such as rainwater collecting, solar energy for energy and water heating, and wastewater filtration system.

The Lodge has only 10 suites and a capacity to host  20 people. The lodge has a central floating house with reception, restaurant, bar, TV room, presentation room and a leisure area where guests can enjoy a deck with a great view to Mamirauá lake. There is also a laundry service available. The transport infrastructure that includes speedboats, motorized canoes and regional boat. The covered boats have a 40 hp and 120 hp engine, with a capacity of six to twelve people (please take only one baggage with a maximum of 15 kilos).

FOOD

The lodge operates with full board, three meals a day are offered. The menu is Brazilian cuisine, with the appreciation of products and dishes typical of the Amazon, with lots of fresh fish, fruits and regional juices (no red meat will be served). The bar offers national and foreign wines, caipirinhas, beer and soft drinks (not included in the package, drinks direct payment on the lodge).

RECOMENDATIONS

Take luggage maximum15 kg, light clothes, binoculars to observe better the animals, cap and dark glasses to protect from the sun, sun block, repellent.

03 NIGHTS PROGRAM – (LOW WATER SEASON – SEPTEMBER TO MARCH)

For those who have not much time to travel and need  quick time to know the Uacari Lodge, 03 nights are ideal. During these days you can enjoy the Amazonian varzéa ecosystems environment, observing its scenic beauty, the fauna on the tracks, the canals and lakes of the Mamirauá, as well as getting to know the customs of the riverside people, watching the sunset and nightlife. Also will get the opportunity to get knowledge through the lectures of the naturalist guide and the researchers, and, of course, day-to-day with the guides and other employees.

03 NIGHTS PROGRAM – (HIGH WATER SEASON – APRIL TO AUGUST)

The ideal package for the clients who wants to make the more in a minimum time. During the flood it is not possible to go hiking, but the canoe trips through the flooded forest fulfill the same idea. you can take boat trips, watch the sunset, visit a riverside community and learn about local customs. You will also learn a lot from the lectures of the naturalist guide, the researchers and the conviviality with the lodge’s staff.

04 NIGHTS PROGRAM – FRIDAY TO TUESDAY

04 NIGHTS PROGRAM – (LOW WATER SEASON– SEPTEMBER TO MARCH)

On these 04 nights you will be able to know the different habitats that the várzea offers, to walk inside the forest day and night, to paddle in canoes  by the river channels, and with motor canoe, to see the sunset, night tours, piranha fishing, you will meet a riverside community where you will learn about the lives of locals and attend lectures with the naturalist guide and researchers.

04 NIGHTS PROGRAM – (HIGH WATER SEASON – APRIL TO AUGUST)

The impossibility of hiking does not compromise the stay during the flood and still provides a unique sensation during the paddle canoe trips inside the flooded forest and contemplation of the sunrise and sunset. In addition, you can meet other places using motorized canoe, visit a riverside community will attend lectures with the naturalist guide and researchers.

07 NIGHTS PROGRAM – TUESDAY TO TUSDAY OR FRIDAY TO FRIDAY

07 NIGHTS PROGRAM – (LOW WATER SEASON – SEPTEMBER TO MARCH)

If you have the time and want to know as much as possible of the Mamirauá Reserve the 7 nights package is an excellent option. In this time it is possible to do everything twice: to walk in a greater number of trails, making a lots of rowing and motorized canoe and to know all this in day and night walks. You can have fun trying to do some sport fishing and having the chance to know the famous piranha, See the sunrise and sunset, You can also visit two traditional communities and for those who seek greater contact with the local population. The program is completed with the lectures of the naturalist guide and researchers. You can still spend the night in a suspended house inside the forest, accompanied by a local guide.

07 NIGHTS PROGRAM – (HIGH WATER SEASON – APRIL TO AUGUST)

A lot of time to enjoy this unique moment that is the high water season  in the Amazonian varzéa. You can know many eviroments in the high water season in a canoe to visit more distant places, and in the motor canoe, to visit two local communities, to try to fish the known piranha, to see sunrise and sunset,do the night tour and still departure from Mamirauá knowing much more about the Amazon forest through the lectures of the naturalist guide and researchers. If you want you can sleep one night in the  suspended house, inside the forest, and wake up with the sound of the animals.
